Sean Elumba, 43, of Stamford, was charged Friday with larceny and released on a $50,000 court appearance bond, said Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin.
Conklin said the arrest comes on the heels of an investigation after the city received a complaint about how marine funds were being spent.
Property crimes investigator Heather Bozenkto, who headed up the probe, found that between 2015 and 2018, Elumba, who supervised the city-owned Czescik and Cove Island marinas (the marina at Cummings Park is closed), misspent $60,662.
Elumba allegedly spent the money on fishing supplies and personal items, police said.
About a week before the city asked the police to investigate the irregularities, Elumba was arrested on prostitution charges in Ansonia.
Conklin said Elumba cooperated with the investigators.
